Challenges
For over a decade, our focus has been on construction and manufacturing, but the development of Premi-Flex wasn’t initially at the forefront of our endeavours. It wasn’t until 2015 that we shifted our attention to E-Houses, embarking on a journey that would lead to the creation of our innovative Prefabricated E-House solution.
The genesis of this endeavour traces back to a pivotal project at the large Platinum Mine, where we sought to design and build fully-fledged Premi-Flex structures. With our fabrication partner and design expertise, we meticulously delved into the finer details, going beyond a containerized solution to engineer a bespoke E-House from scratch.
Solutions
The durability of our Prefabricated E-House design was paramount, prompting us to subject it to rigorous testing. Employing Finite Element Analysis (FEA), we simulated wind forces and stress tests, reaffirming what we already believed – the resilience of our creation. While elated with our achievement, we sought validation through practical application. In 2021, we transitioned from concept to detailed design, successfully delivering our first two, 12m x 5m Prefabricated E-House to a large brewing company. In 2023, we built a 6m 5m for this brewing company, and following this triumph, 2024 saw the replication of our design in a 12m x 5m Prefabricated E-House for Kapushi Mine, in the DRC.
Analysing our pricing, we discovered that, despite a slight premium as compared to shipping container conversions, our E-House offer unparalleled configurability within our client’s desired footprint. Aligning with ISO standards for logistical ease, our modular E-House maintained the standard load dimensions of shipping container, keeping logistic costs low. Over the years, while the core design remained unchanged, our focus shifted towards enhancing overall quality and streamlining the fabrication process for improved efficiency, and reduced manufacturing cost.
The development of Premi-Flex has progressed to a stage where a standard cost model can be established, enabling the integration of Premi-Flex into our regular offerings. Introducing a configurator with modular dimensions, we now offer four standard variant sizes with diverse configurations and specifications. The journey was nothing short of remarkable, a testament to Power Plant Electrical Technologies’ ability not only to supply cutting-edge solutions but also to design and manufacture from the ground up. This achievement is a source of immense pride for our company, reflecting the strides we’ve taken in innovation and excellence.
