Manufactured Flex RangeUniSafe 2.0 Range
Air-insulated medium-voltage switchgear for primary distribution — fully arc-proof, modular and type-tested to IEC, up to 24 kV, 4000 A and 40 kA.
UniSafe 2.0 is a modular, air-insulated MV switchgear built from standardised units placed side by side, with vacuum or SF6 breakers and vacuum contactors, closed-door racking and internal-arc classification AFLR. Supplied and assembled by PPE Technologies as an ABB value provider.
Built around cost and power qualityArc-proof, modular MV switchgear
UniSafe 2.0 provides a structured approach to medium-voltage distribution, combining proven switchgear engineering with the flexibility required for modern electrical networks. Its system-based design helps create a dependable platform that can be adapted to different project layouts, operating priorities and long-term infrastructure needs.
Fully arc-proof safety
Internal-arc classified (IAC AFLR) with closed-door apparatus racking, safety interlocks and front-only service and maintenance access.
Modular and customisable
Standardised functional units — feeders, bus-ties, risers and measurement — assemble side by side, with vacuum or SF6 breakers, vacuum contactors and fixed or withdrawable CT/VT or sensors.
Type-tested, simple to install
Type-tested to the IEC 62271 series, LSC-2B/PM classified, built from pregalvanized sheet without welding points, and needing only very simple civil works.
Typical project environmentsWhere UniSafe 2.0 can be positioned
UniSafe 2.0 is well suited to projects where medium-voltage distribution needs to balance safety, flexibility and long-term reliability. Its modular platform allows the switchgear arrangement to be adapted to different network layouts and operating environments while maintaining a consistent engineering approach.

Phase identification and rotation
In a three-phase AC installation, phase identification keeps corresponding conductors consistent from one connection point to the next. Phase sequence, sometimes called phase rotation, is the order in which the phase voltages reach their repeating peaks. A phase-sequence instrument indicates the order of the phase voltages.
Clearance and creepage in insulation coordination
Clearance is the shortest distance through air between conductive parts, whereas creepage is the shortest path along an insulating surface between those parts. Insulation coordination considers both distances together with the electrical environment, the material’s surface characteristics, contamination, altitude, and transient overvoltage conditions. Treating clearance and creepage as separate design dimensions helps engineers interpret insulation arrangements without confusing an air path with a surface path.
